Why FairLinkNews?

Truth: Most people get the majority of their news from social media.

Truth: Social media sucks as a news source.

Social media was never designed to deliver comprehensive or accurate news stories. And, honestly, they cannot do that. Social media platforms have a single goal, to keep you on their site as long as possible so that you view as many ads as possible. (More ad views = more money.) The catchier the content, the more likely you are to stick around for . . . “well, just one more post.” And maybe just one more ad.

These platforms were never designed to give you all the information you might want in order to make an informed decision. They're designed to show you what they think will keep you there and posts that algorithm wants you to see. And they are very good at that task, but that does not help you get a total view of the issues affecting you.

The bottom line is that on social media platforms you don't control what you see. You guide it by subscribing, unsubscribing, liking and blocking, but if the algorithm wants you to see a post, you will see that post.

In addition, they are not to provide much context on a particular topic.
